Most team members often feel overwhelmed with the prospect of having to worry about timelines and tasks they need to accomplish over the duration of the work effort. Helping them to stay focused and organized is a key skill that a PM must bring to the table when running a project. One of the tools you can use to get things structured and organized is the "Project Checklist". This checklist is a roadmap to setup and put a framework around the project before it gets started.
Personally, I use two types of checklists. I use an excel spreadsheet and a filemaker database. They serve two different purposes: 1. The excel or spreadsheet style checklist affords a lot of room for detail and serves well as a simple database. I can plug in dates, times, names and math/budget functions. Budget functions are really important in a checklist in my opinion. For me as an event planner, I live and die by the budget. We can train anyone to plan an event, but planning an event within theme and on or below budget is the sign of a pro. Using a spreadsheet allows us to combine budget details with all of the other event details.
Each day sit down and make out a list of tasks that you will need to do that day. Alternatively you can do this on a weekly basis, moving to a daily basis as you get nearer to your wedding date. These mini checklists will be more detailed and provide a break down of those tasks which are on your main wedding planning checklist. A good tip is to ask anyone you know who has recently got married if they still have their checklists as they can be helpful if you get stuck.
On the day before the meeting, you have to make sure of everything that you have planned for months. It is recommended that you also keep some cash aside in case of emergencies. Finally, on the day of the meeting, make sure that you get to the venue much before everyone else so that you can do some last minute checking. Hopefully, if everything goes well that day and you do not get a heart attack before the event`s over, you can keep aside your meeting planner checklist or meeting planner form for the first time in months and breathe easily.
But goof-ups are only part of being human. If you have been perfect once, and excellent twice, it is quite likely that you will goof up the third time. So, why are you taking the tension and risk of the meeting planning process on yourself alone? Why do not you share it with an ace meeting planner checklist such as the online diary planner? The online diary planner is a software that qualifies for an expert meeting planner checklist.
Usage of these documents does not come to a halt once your restaurant business is up and kicking. Even to maintain your top position requires a lot of effort on your part. This is when they come in handy again to solicit feedback, understand customer behavior, employee behavior and the like. An analysis of the final results would show you the gaps between the expected and actual results, thereby leading to increased organizational efficiency and adoption of best industry practices. If you have already started using these restaurant forms and checklists, you could consider that you are on the right track. It pays to remember that laying the foundation is the first big step for any business and these tools are the ones that are on top of the list for sure.
